The Uniformed Services Identification (USID) Card is a government-issued ID provided by the Department of Defense. For veterans with a 100% Permanent and Total (P&T) disability rating, this card functions similarly to a retiree ID, granting the veteran and their eligible dependents access to military installations and specific privileges previously reserved for active duty or retired personnel.
Holders of a USID card are eligible for “MWR” privileges (Morale, Welfare, and Recreation). This allows access to facilities on military bases, including:
Yes. Veterans with a 100% P&T rating and a valid USID card are eligible for Space-Available (Space-A) Travel. This allows the veteran and their dependents to fly on military aircraft when surplus seats are available, at little to no cost.
To qualify for this specific USID card, a veteran must generally have a 100% service-connected disability rating deemed permanent and total. The veteran’s spouse and dependent children are also eligible for their own dependent ID cards.
